What is ISCC?

What are the aims of ISCC?

ISCC’s mission is to promote the transition to a circular economy and sustainable bioeconomy, to support companies in reducing GHG emissions, and to increase transparency and traceability along supply chains; supporting the UN Global Compact and Sustainable Development Goals by setting sustainability standards for farms and plantations and encouraging the use of waste and recycled materials.

What is ISCC PLUS?

ISCC PLUS is a voluntary certification scheme designed to validate the sustainability characteristics of bio-based, renewable, and circular raw materials. In simple terms, ISCC PLUS helps companies prove that the materials in their products come from sustainable sources, such as:

• Recycled plastics
• Used cooking oil and other waste-derived feedstocks
• Sustainable agricultural crops
• Renewable-energy-derived materials
• Forest biomass from sustainable sources

Why is ISCC PLUS important and industries need it?

Many industries—especially plastics, packaging, chemicals, textiles, and food—want to reduce their reliance on fossil resources. ISCC PLUS provides an independently audited way to verify sustainability claims and track materials throughout the supply chain.

What is ISCC EU?

The ISCC EU certification scheme verifies compliance with the European Union’s legal requirements for sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions savings criteria for renewable fuels, as well as the production of electricity, heating and cooling from biomass.   The European Union’s legal requirements are set out in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) and apply to all EU Member States. ISCC EU also covers additional ecological and social requirements that go beyond the legal requirements of RED III.  By applying ISCC EU, business entities gain access to a variety of markets, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and Queensland (Australia).

What is ISCC CORSIA?

ISCC CORSIA is a sustainability certification scheme that verifies sustainable aviation fuels and their supply chains meet the requirements of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), enabling airlines and fuel suppliers to demonstrate compliance with global aviation emissions reduction standards.
