Certification Service for VeraSol Quality Assurance Program

Connecting buyers with quality assured manufacturers and sellers of off-grid solar products through the VeraSol (previously Lighting Global Quality Assurance) Programme.
VeraSol is a global quality assurance program that helps protect consumers and buyers of solar products by making sure solar energy kits and appliances are safe, reliable, and perform as promised. An evolution of Lighting Global Quality Assurance, the VeraSol program supports high-performing, durable off-grid products that expand access to modern energy services for those without reliable access to electricity.
VeraSol builds upon the strong foundation for quality assurance laid by the World Bank Group’s Lighting Global Quality Assurance program. Currently, CLASP and the Schatz Energy Research Center at Humboldt State University manage the VeraSol programme, with foundational support is provided by the World Bank Group’, UKaid, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), IKEA Foundation, Good Energies Foundation, and others.
Intertek Testing Services – Government and Trade Services (GTS) in Hong Kong SAR has been selected as a commercial partner to provide certification related services, in partnership with VeraSol.
Intertek’s services will include:
- Certification Support: Managing initial client engagement and coordinating the end-to-end certification process.
- Sampling: Organizing and conducting random sampling in X number of countries; solar home systems.
- Testing: Measuring quality and performance of solar energy kits up to 350 Watts, according to the IEC 62257-9-5.
- Compliance Verification: Evaluation products against IEC 62257-9-8 to ensure conformity of quality requirements.
